Springfield/Clark County Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Banquet

The Cincinnati Reds Official Scorekeeper since 1980, Glenn Sample, will be the guest speaker at the 2008 Springfield/Clark County Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Banquet on January 12. Mr. Sample, was also the Head Baseball Coach for the University of Cincinnati for 21 years and retired as the winningest coach in Bearcats history, and has also been UC's head wrestling coach and an assistant football coach. Glenn will speak on his life in athletics, his experiences in the press box with the Reds and be prepared to provide his insiders assessment of their chances in 2008.

The buffet banquet, catered by Carmae Catering, will also see the induction of three individuals: ex St. Louis Cardinal Jimmy Journell, Jinx Manuel and Bill Carter as well as two teams, the 1953 New Carlisle Morris Ford and 1978-79 Pabst Royals men's teams. One of the members of the New Carlisle team, Dr. Ewyn Bryden, also a pitcher for the 1946 Springfield Giants, is expected to attend.

The banquet will be held at the UAW Local 402 Hall, 3671 Urbana Road, Springfield, on Saturday January 12 at 7:00 p.m.Tickets are $14 for adults, $10 for children 12 and under and are available at the National Trail Parks and Recreation District Office located at 1301 Mitchell Blvd., Springfield or at the Carleton Davidson Stadium.
