August 6, "A Desert Louvre? Abu Dhabi Museum Project,"
by Sonja Ostendorf-Rupp, Director of Museum Operations, The Westcott House Foundation
Everyone's heard of the Louvre and MoMA, but not everyone knows Abu Dhabi is aspiring to become one of the world's new culture capitals. Star architects have been commissioned to build the world's most spectacular museums on an island just off the Arab metropolis. Come on a visual journey and hear about these intercultural projects.

August 13, "The Man Without a Century: Frank Lloyd Wright and the Development of Modern Architecture,"
by Mark Chepp, Director Emeritus, Springfield Museum of Art; Board Chair, Westcott House Foundation; Adjunct Instructor of Art, Wittenberg University and Urbana University

Although Frank Lloyd Wright is generally looked upon as America's greatest architect, there is little agreement regarding either the foundations of his inspiration, his impact upon his contemporaries, or the extent of his legacy. While this presentation will answer none of the above, it will attempt to provide a framework within which to continue the dialogue.

August 20, "Refuge and Recreation: The Utilitarian Role of Snyder Park in Springfield," by Jake Kallgren, Curatorial and Research Assistant, The Turner Foundation

Snyder Park mirrored the nineteenth century public park movement in that it provided refuge and relief from the crowded and cramped living conditions of Springfield's rapidly developing industries. Snyder Park also employed two unique design elements that catered to all facets of Springfield's population. The presentation will discuss both the unique designs and functions of Springfield most historic Public Park.

August 27, "Reading the Creative Mind,"
by Marta Wojcik, Curator of Interpretation, The Westcott House Foundation

Each one of us actively participates in the process of design, we just don't realize it. We assume design thinking is the exclusive domain of architects and designers. However, the 21st century challenges us to embrace the creative power of our minds and push the limits of preconceptions. Today, more than ever, we are invited to question, empathize, collaborate and play. These are the very aspects of the design process.
