TALKIN BASEBALL

Baseball talk all about the National Game in Springfield, held the first Wednesday of each month, October through March, at the Carleton Davidson Stadium Press Box. This program will be conducted by NTPRD and the Hall of Fame.

October 1 Springfield/Clark County Residents in the World Series
A discussion of baseball players from Springfield/Clark County who have participated in the Fall Classic from Jiggs Donahue in 1906 to Dustin Hermanson in 2005. See video footage of World Series performances by Harvey Haddix, Will McEnaney, and Rick White as part of the discussion.

November 5 All time records
How do some Springfield/Clark County Players measure up with the all time great record holders. Who are the hit kings, gold gloves and pitching aces from our area.

December 3 Baseball Trades
Baseball trades can be like an early Christmas present or some times resemble a lump of coal. A discussion of some of the great baseball trades of all time and those that included our local boys. Did you know Sleepy Bill Burns, one of the gamblers involved in the 1919 World Series fix was traded for a Springfield guy?

January 7 Springfield/Clark County Baseball Hall of Fame
The Springfield/Clark County Baseball Hall of Fame will hold their annual banquet on January 10. There will be a discussion of the all time greats of Springfield Baseball history many of whom you have never heard about.

February 4 The Minor Leagues in Springfield
A discussion of the history of minor league baseball in Springfield including a visit with some players who actually played the game.

March 4 Play Ball
As the 2009 baseball season is about to get underway there will be a discussion of the upcoming season from the Big Leagues down to high school, here in Clark County.
