The events presented by the Wittenberg Department of Music are free and open to the public.
Associate Professor of Music Christopher Durrenberger will perform a faculty artist piano recital at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in Krieg Hall. Durrenberger will play Johannes Brahms' Piano Sonata No. 3 in F minor and Modest Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Mussorgsky's piece is a composition based on a memorial exhibition for his recently deceased friend Viktor Hartmann, complete with watercolors and stage design.
Adjunct Instructor of Music Timothy Olt playing the tuba will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, in Krieg Hall.
A student recital by David Wallingford, class of 2008 from Bellevue, Ohio, and Steven Wolgast, class of 2008 from Springfield, Ohio, who will both play the organ at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, in Weaver Chapel.
The Wittenberg Symphonic Band, conducted by Assistant Professor of Music Brandon Jones, begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, in Weaver Chapel.
Professor of Music and Chair of the Department David Schubert, baritone, accompanied by Diane Slagle, piano, will take place at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, in Krieg Hall. Schubert will perform a list of art songs from the 19th and 20th centuries, including Schumann's Dichterliebe of the Romantic era, Francis Poulenc's Le bestiaire and Gerald Finzi's Let.
