Shawnee High School

Shawnee High School will present their Spring musical, The Pajama Game, on May 2nd and 3rd at 7:00 pm and May 4th at 2:30 pm directed by Bryan Szekacs. Tickets are available at the door for $8 adults and $6 students.

This musical comedy is led by veteran thespian Allison Kelly who plays Babe and choreographs many of the shows dance numbers. Her theatrical accomplishments include performing in the Muse Machine’s Peter Pan, Rizzo in Grease, performances with OPAI, as well as dance training with Gary Geis. Allison plans to major in Theater.

Austin Young co-stars as Sid Sorokin who is trying to win Babe’s heart. This is Austin’s third musical with Shawnee’s Drama Club.

Supporting cast includes Josh Katawick as Vernon Hines, a lovable character who introduces the audience to the Sleeptite Factory threatening to go on strike if they don’t get their 7 ½ cent raise. Josh Katawick is well known in the area for his acting talents. He has performed with Ohio Lyric Theater, Muse Machine, and is currently playing Conrad Birdie in OPAIs production of Bye Bye Birdie. He plans to attend Wright State University majoring in Theater.

Kayla Steckel brings BalletMet Dance Academy’s pre-professional training to her portrayal of Gladys giving the classic Steam Heat dance number lots of sizzle.

A unique addition to this cast is Lukas Grillmayer, a foreign exchange attending Shawnee this year. Lukas leaps, literally, onto the Shawnee stage from his German hometown’s community theater group.

The exceptional talents of Musical Direction Lydia Smith promises to make this an exceptional High School Musical.
