The Rotating Gallery in the Interface Creative Group offices will be featuring Dr. Janet Dobson of Springfield and Mr. Bruce Grimes of Clifton for the months of March and April.
Dr. Dobson has spent the last two-decades painting, mainly in the mediums of watercolor, oil and portraiture. Her work is extraordinary, capturing the light in the eyes of a mother and child, or finding the life in the tattered soul of an old tennis-shoe.
Mr. Grimes works mainly in two types of clay media, high-fired and raku-fired work. His high fired work is for functional, daily and household uses, while his raku works are what he considers his artistic pieces. In many of his pieces Mr. Grimes focuses on images of animals and symbols that he considers to be representational of his own life experiences. His brightly colored, delicate yet sturdy ceramic pieces share a little piece of his story and of the places, spaces and people he has encountered. Each piece has its own life, with vivid colors and images that make each individual mug, plate or pot a piece of art.
