  • The exhibition at the Springfield Museum of Art tells the story of the artistic legacy that began with Louis Anquetin (1861-1932), a French painter who devoted his career to recovering the lost knowledge, techniques, and materials of the old masters. The tradition continued through Jacques Maroger (1884-1962), and then through Joseph Sheppard who has passed this legacy on to the next generation of artists. The exhibition features over fifty works—paintings, prints and sculptures—by fifteen artists that reflect this rich artistic legacy of four generations.
