Eyes Wide Open Worldwide Director Ty Fischer returned to Cambodia for the second time last fall to participate as an exhibitor and presenter at the Angkor Photography Festival. The humanitarian festival features Asian photographers and projects. “It was an honor to meet and work with world-famous photographers, and to share our vision of inspiring children through the arts. We were excited to be invited back again and look forward to fostering greater understanding between cultures through this exhibit,” said Ty Fischer, founder of Eyes Wide Open Worldwide.
This year, Ty and volunteer Shannon Reames worked in the Tonle Sap region with children living in floating villages. The entire community including homes, schools and business exists on the water. The Tonle Sap (Great Lake) is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and is home to over 170 floating villages. Families spend lifetimes living in small house boats and floating structures on this ocean-like lake. . To get a glimpse of what for most of us is an extraordinary existence, visit the exhibit, Life on the Lake, April 11th and 12th from 6:30 to 9:30 pm on the second floor of the Shouvlin Center at Wittenberg University.
